The seven essentials.

01
Minimalist

Step 1 · Face wash

Minimalist 2% Salicylic Acid Cleanser

₹399 · 100ml · For oily & combination skin

The cleanser most Indian men should use — gentle salicylic acid clears blackheads and pollution residue without stripping. Foamier than the brand's other cleansers, dries quickly, doesn't leave a film. Skip if you have very dry skin.

  • Honest formulation, no hidden fragrance
  • Clears blackheads in 2–3 weeks
  • Lasts ~3 months at twice-daily use
  • Can sting if used on broken skin
  • Not for sensitive or very dry skin
02
Re'equil

Step 2 · Moisturiser + SPF

Re'equil Ultra Matte Sunscreen SPF 50

₹495 · 50g · Combines moisturiser + SPF

The single most important product in this kit. SPF 50, no white cast on Indian skin tones, mattifies oily skin instead of greasing it up. Doubles as a moisturiser so you skip a step. Your future face — fewer wrinkles, fewer dark patches — will thank you.

  • No white cast even on darker tones
  • Mattifying — works under makeup-free office days
  • SPF 50 PA+++ — real broad-spectrum
  • Tube dispenses fast — get 2 if you apply generously
  • Slight alcohol smell on application, fades
03
Beardo

Step 3 · Beard care

Beardo Godfather Beard Oil

₹250 · 30ml · Argan + jojoba blend

A few drops a day, massaged into beard and the skin under it. Tames coarse Indian beard texture, softens the line at the cheek and neck, reduces the itchy phase between weeks 2-4 of growing it out. Argan dominant — closer to a leave-in conditioner than a perfume.

  • Genuinely tames coarse hair
  • Subtle "Godfather" fragrance, not overwhelming
  • 30ml bottle lasts 3 months
  • Glass dropper bottle — careful in the shower
  • Overdo it and you'll look greasy

Xiaomi

Step 4 · Trimmer

Mi Beard Trimmer 1C

₹1,099 · 20 length settings · USB-C charging

The most reliable budget trimmer in India in 2026. USB-C charges in 90 minutes, runs for 60. Sharp self-honing blades — most ₹500 trimmers die within a year, this one lasts 3-4. 20 length settings cover everything from stubble to full beard.

  • USB-C — same charger as your phone
  • Blades stay sharp without replacement
  • Lightweight, balanced
  • Adjustment wheel needs a firm hand
  • Not waterproof (despite some claims)
05
BSC

Step 5 · Fragrance

Bombay Shaving Company Aristocrat EDP

₹699 · 50ml · Woody-citrus

Best Indian-brand fragrance under ₹1,000. Bergamot opening, cedarwood base, lasts 4-6 hours — solid for office and dinner without being aggressive in a small space. The bottle is unfussy, looks like a cologne should look. Apply two sprays at neck pulse points, not on shirts.

  • Genuine EDP concentration at price
  • Office-appropriate, not overpowering
  • 50ml bottle lasts 4-6 months
  • Not very long-lasting (4-6 hrs)
  • Sprayer can drip on bottle neck
06
Man Co.

Step 6 · Hair styling

The Man Company Matte Hair Clay

₹325 · 50g · Strong hold, no shine

For Indian hair — thicker, denser than European hair — you want a clay, not a wax or gel. This one holds without flaking, matte finish (no greasy shine), washes out with shampoo. Pea-sized amount in damp towel-dry hair, work through with fingers.

  • Matte, never shiny
  • Washes out cleanly
  • Doesn't flake even on day-2 hair
  • Strong hold means hard to restyle mid-day
  • Slight earthy scent
07
Pilgrim

Step 7 · Wash & rinse

Pilgrim Argan Shampoo

₹345 · 200ml · Sulphate-free

Sulphate-free is non-negotiable for Indian hair — sulphates strip oil too aggressively, leaving the scalp drier than it should be (which actually triggers more oil). This argan-based formula cleans without stripping, doesn't fade hair dye, and the 200ml bottle lasts ~3 months at thrice-weekly washes.

  • Sulphate-free, gentle on scalp
  • Doesn't strip natural oils
  • Light fragrance
  • Doesn't lather as much as supermarket shampoos
  • Bottle nozzle dispenses generously — squeeze gently

Buying guide

Your 5-minute morning routine.

The whole point of this kit is to make grooming take five minutes, not fifty. Five steps, every morning:

  1. Splash — cold water on the face, wakes you up, closes pores.
  2. Cleanse — pea of Minimalist cleanser, work into damp face for 30 seconds, rinse. Skip on rest days if you only sweated lightly.
  3. Moisturise + SPF — Re'equil Ultra Matte. A 5-paise coin amount, dot on forehead/cheeks/nose/chin, blend outward. Don't skip even on cloudy days.
  4. Beard + hair — 3 drops of Beardo oil into the beard. Pea of Man Co clay into damp hair, finger-style.
  5. Fragrance — 2 sprays of BSC Aristocrat at the neck pulse points. Never on the shirt (alcohol stains).

Once a week, add: trim with the Mi trimmer (3 minutes), shampoo with Pilgrim (in the shower). Done.
