The single rule for choosing sunglasses: the frame should contrast your face shape, not echo it. Round face → angular frames. Square face → curved frames. Each section below has two picks under ₹3,000 from Indian-available brands, with the exact why.

Buying guide
Five things before you buy.
UV first, fashion second
The single non-negotiable: UV 400 protection. Anything less and you're wearing tinted glasses while UV rays still hit your eyes — worse than no sunglasses, because your pupils dilate behind tint. Every frame above ships with UV 400 lenses; never buy "fashion shades" from a street vendor without checking.
Polarised or not
Polarised lenses cut horizontal glare from water, glass, road surface. Useful for driving and beach days. Slight downside — they can interfere with phone screens and LCD dashboards. Worth the extra ₹500 if you drive frequently.
Frame material
Acetate — premium plastic, holds colour well, slightly heavier. Metal — lighter, can bend out of shape, prone to nose-pad wear. TR-90 / nylon — flexible, sport-friendly, less premium feel.
Lens colour
Brown / amber — best for warm Indian light, enhances contrast, easy on the eyes. Grey — most neutral, doesn't distort colours, formal-friendly. Green — Ray-Ban's classic G-15, balanced. Blue / mirror — fashion choice, distorts colour perception, save for non-driving contexts.
Where to buy
Lenskart — widest selection, home trial, 14-day return, prescription lenses on-site. Ray-Ban India — full warranty, authentic, frequent sales. Tata Cliq / Amazon — convenience, watch for grey-market sellers. Avoid: Instagram shop replicas — fakes with no UV protection.
