Pompadour

Volume up front, tapered at the sides — a bold, classic look that adds height and instantly dresses you up.

Who it suits The pompadour's height suits oval and diamond faces, and the volume balances a longer (oblong) face. Skip it if your face is already very long — go for less height.

How to ask your barber Say: "Leave 3–4 inches on top, tapered short on the sides, so I can sweep it up and back into a pompadour."

How to style it Blow-dry the top up and back with a round brush, then lock it with a strong pomade. This is the step that makes or breaks the look — air-drying won't get the height.

Maintenance High. It needs daily styling and a blow-dryer, plus a trim every 3–4 weeks to keep the taper.

Do I need a blow-dryer for a pompadour?
Effectively yes — the signature height comes from blow-drying the top up and back before applying product.
