Sizing for Indian feet
Most international brands run narrow through the forefoot — go half a size up if you're between sizes. Adidas, Skechers and Puma tend to fit closer to UK standard sizing. Indian brands (Bata, Campus, Snitch) usually run true to size or slightly wider. Always check the brand's specific size chart, not "your size."
Leather vs canvas vs PU
Leather lasts longest, looks the most premium, but darkens in monsoon and needs occasional conditioning. Synthetic / PU leather wipes clean and survives rain, but creases visibly after a year. Canvas / suede are summer-only choices in most of India — beautiful when dry, miserable in humidity.
The sole-colour rule
Pure white sole reads cleanest, pairs with formal-leaning outfits, but shows scuffs immediately. Gum sole is more casual but forgiving — pairs with denim and chinos, not with dress trousers. Off-white / cream sole is the middle ground — slightly more forgiving than pure white without going full casual.
Returns by retailer
Myntra — 30-day return, easy pickup. Ajio — 30-day return, slightly slower pickup. Amazon India — 7-10 day return on shoes, automated process. Snitch / Bewakoof — direct brand sites, usually 15-day, sometimes exchange-only. Brand stores (Nike, Adidas, Bata) — return in-store works even on online orders.
Keeping them white
The whole point of white sneakers is they look white. Two-step routine: 1) Brush with a dry toothbrush after every wear — gets dust off before it sets. 2) Spot-clean every 2 weeks with Crep Protect cleaner or just a microfibre cloth dipped in water + a drop of mild detergent. Never put leather sneakers in a washing machine. Air-dry stuffed with newspaper. White rubber soles can be cleaned with a Magic Eraser (Mr. Clean) — works freakishly well.
A pair will last 12-18 months of daily wear with this routine. Two pairs rotated will last three years each.
